Civilian Airshow Acts

Michael Goulian

Michael Goulian is a multi-disciplined aerial demonstation pilot. Beginning his career in the competitive world of aerobatics, Goulian earned the distinction of becoming one of the youngest pilots to ever win the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Championship at the age of 27. His signature air show performance combines the heart-stopping gyroscopic tumbling of modern display flying with the crisp, aggressive, demands of precision competition aerobatics.

In 2006, Goulian joined an elite group of pilots competing in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Competing as Team #99, Goulian and his team are engaged in a battle of technology, skill, and execution against 13 of the world’s fiercest competitors.

GhostWriter - Nathan K Hammond

Originally designed as a trainer for the Royal Canadian Air Force, our 1956 deHavilland Chipmunk has been specially modified for Airshow aerobatics and Skywriting. Nearly 3,000 man-hours over a two year period were spent on developing the GhostWriter into the finest example of a Super Chipmunk. It now boasts a cruising speed of 150mph, and a range of more than 500 miles. It will climb at a rate of 2,500 feet per minute, with a ceiling of 17,500 feet.

If you recognize the airplane, that's no surprise. GhostWriter developed a well established career in the Airshow and Skywriting industry as the Pepsi SkyDancer for 25 years. In 2016 Nathan K. Hammond took the controls and has been captivating audiences with the smooth lines and raw horsepower of the unparalleled Super Chipmunk ever since.

RJ Gritter

The son of a test pilot dad and a flight instructor mom, RJ has been in the cockpit his entire life. Growing up in Greensboro, North Carolina, he started flying before he was tall enough to see over the instrument panel! He soloed on his 16th birthday and got his private pilot license on his 17th.

RJ developed a passion for aerobatics through radio-control (R/C) flying. He started competing in R/C aerobatics at age 16 in national and international events, representing the US in indoor precision and freestyle aerobatic championships. R/C flying gave him a strong background for "full-scale" aerobatic flying.

RJ earned his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University. He got his Decathlon, learned aerobatics, and flew his first airshow… all in the span of only one year. That was only seven short years ago. Since then, RJ has flown more than 200 airshow performances and has logged more than a thousand hours. How is that for up and coming!

RJ is SAC certified for surface-level solo and formation aerobatics, comedy, wingwalking and circle-the-jumper.
