2018 Candidates

Hannah Beaudry


Hannah Beaudry is the 22 year old daughter of Jill and Dan Murphy. She is a 2013 graduate of Elk Rapids High School. Hannah is soon to earn her Bachelor’s of Education from Central Michigan University. She has accepted a 3rd grade teaching position for the fall and is excited to step into her career with passion and vigor.

Hannah was blessed to have the opportunity to serve as Miss Elk Rapids 2013. She was honored to represent her hometown and the scholarship program. She now serves on the Miss Elk Rapids Scholarship Committee working to continue the legacy of encouraging young women to pursue their dreams with strength, confidence and class. Hannah is grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve her community alongside five strong and courageous fellow committee members; who she looks up to.

In addition to working with children Hannah is passionate about singing, playing the piano, pursuing theatre, spending time with her Resurrection Life Church Family, working out and enjoying our beautiful Northern Michigan outdoors. She is thankful for
each day that she is able to serve those around her in love. She stands by Billy Graham’s wise words “ the greatest legacy one can pass on is not material things but rather a legacy of character and faith.”

Grace Boyles


Grace is the 20-year-old daughter of Pete and Anne Boyles of Traverse City. She is a 2016 graduate of Elk Rapids High School and is entering her junior year at the University of Michigan where she is double majoring in Communications Studies and Creative Writing and Literature. Grace spends her time in Ann Arbor studying, enjoying sporting events, and participating in several student organizations. She is the executive producer of an all-women’s sports show on WOLV TV called “Wolverine Women” and is an associate producer for Big Ten Network Student U at Michigan.

Grace was incredibly blessed to have served the Elk Rapids community as the 2017 Miss Elk Rapids. She is deeply thankful to have had the opportunity to advocate for her hometown all
across Northern Michigan and to have been able to give back to the community which helped shape her into the young woman she is today. Grace fell in love with connecting with the people of Elk Rapids at Wednesday Nights on River Street and being a role model for the young girls on her Court and in the community.

Driven by her passion for sports and people’s stories, Grace hopes to pursue a career in sports broadcasting.

Shaelyn Bunner


Shaelyn Josette Bunner is the 21 year old daughter of Chance and Rachel Bunner of Traverse City. She is a 2015 graduate of Traverse City Saint Francis High School and a graduate of the Douglas J Aveda Institute of Grand Rapids, MI. Currently Shaelyn is a State of Michigan Licensed Cosmetologist working as a Stylist at the J C Penney Salon in Traverse City.

Shae's future goals include becoming an Artistic Director for movies, television, or stage productions, where she can showcase her love and talent in makeup application and cosmetic special effects. She received her first professional motion picture recognition as the Key Makeup Artist for the independent film Drama Class, and looks forward to many other exciting opportunities in this field. Shaelyn also volunteers her time with the Saint Francis High School and TC Central High School performing arts programs. Her other passions and pursuits include painting, singing, photography, antique shopping, and is an active parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church on beautiful Old Mission Peninsula.

Elizabeth Swan


Elizabeth Mary Swan is the 21-year-old daughter of Drs. David and Lynn Swan. In 2015, Elizabeth graduated from St. Francis High School. She has just graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Elizabeth plans to continue her education at Grand Valley State University, where she will attain her Master of Social Work. Elizabeth’s vocational calling is to be a counselor/therapist, and help those with mental health.

Elizabeth is born and raised in Grand Traverse. She has spent many hours volunteering for organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Michigan and Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter. She has also worked for companies: Lochenheath Golf Club and Flight Path Creative, and is currently working this summer at Bonobo Winery where she meets thousands of people every week and promotes Traverse City and its agriculture. She also helps in the winemaking process. This year, she will lead a mission trip to build houses in Florida with Habitat for Humanity.

Elizabeth’s passions include painting, singing, music, theatre, travel, attending networking events, and volunteering. She has grown up a neighbor and friend to cherry orchards, and has a
deep respect for the industry. Elizabeth has and will continue to be an ambassador for Traverse City, and will strive to continue the legacy started many years ago when the festival first began.
