Tax Deductible Contribution
Feel like Giving? Consider the Festival Foundation!
The ‘Festival Foundation’ was created in 2008 by representatives of the National Cherry Festival in order to provide a means by which the greater Grand Traverse communities could support charitable objectives in the fields of education, tourism, agriculture, arts and culture, historic preservation, and community enrichment. The ‘Festival Foundation’ was created as a public charity and formed with a Board of Directors independent of the National Cherry Festival.
The ‘Festival Foundation’ recently awarded $15,000 in scholarships to students attending Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Culinary Institute and to the young women participating as finalists in the National Cherry Queen’s program. “The Foundation is a vehicle for charitable giving as evident with a first time partnership with Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine®. Through the ‘Festival Foundation’ and HopeLine® donations, we will be able to assist in curbing domestic violence in our community. Until now we have not had a vehicle enabling us to do this kind of good work within our community,” stated Jeff Hughes, Foundation president “Furthermore, this time of year offers particular benefits to donors interested in giving to non-profit organizations. Helping others also makes good business sense, as tax benefits are realized for 2010 if donations are made on December 31st or before,” Hughes went on to say. All donations made to the ‘Festival Foundation’ will remain in our region.
Contributions may be addressed to the ‘Festival Foundation’, 250 East Front Street, Suite 301, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. For additional giving information, contact Trevor Tkach, Interim Executive Director by calling (231) 947-4230 or by email.
