Traverse City, Michigan – The National Cherry Festival is pleased to release the official dates of the 2013 National Cherry Festival. The 87th National Cherry Festival will kick off on Saturday, June 29th with a Festival Air Show, Bay Side entertainment, and lots of cherry delights throughout the Festival grounds.
“The City of Traverse City requested that the National Cherry Festival consider setting its 2013 dates to include the 4th of July. Many community members and out of town guests have an expectation that the National Cherry Festival will be open during the fourth. We agreed that their request seemed logical”, said Trevor Tkach, Festival Executive Director. “The Cherry Festival Foundation and National Cherry Festival will again work closely with the non-profit ‘BOOM BOOM CLUB’ (which secured 4th of July fireworks funding in 2012), to provide the necessary components needed to produce the 2013 fireworks”.
The National Cherry Festival will offer over 130 events throughout the eight-day celebration including all time favorites like free opening weekend air shows, Bay Side Entertainment, two parades, daily kids events, the Festival of Races, and of course Cherry Pie Eating and Pit Spitting competitions for every age.
