Cherry Blossom Runway Show

Join us for the second annual Cherry Blossom Runway Show, featuring "Candidates on the Catwalk".

NCF Presidential Cherry Pancake Breakfast

Million Dollar Hole-In-One Golf Contest

 

Golfers: How would you like a chance to win one million dollars. That's right - one million dollars! Come out to the Bay Meadows Golf Course and take your best shot at a hole in one July 7-13.

The closest to the pin qualifiers will return on Saturday, July 14 for a shot at a cool million.

Two-Person Beach Volleyball Tournament

Sponsored by Sobe and Domino's Pizza, in cooperation with WKLT Radio - The Rock Station 97.5, 98.9


Two-person tournament play on the beautiful beaches of West Grand Traverse Bay. Saturday's tournament features Men's and Women's play, with 18 teams per division.  Registration fee for a two person team will be $45 in 2012.

Team sign in will begin at 8:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with play beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Also see the Sunday, July 8th tournament for four-person play in Co-Ed Open, Co-Ed Recreational, and Women's divisions. Pre-registration for 2012 is required by signing up online.  REGISTRATION is NOW OPEN!

The National Cherry Festival and the Historic Park Place Hotel present the 4th annual Air Show Gala at the Top of the Park. You will find no better view of the National Cherry Festival Air Show than atop the Historic Park Place Hotel.

Feel the hotel shake as the jets careen over West Grand Traverse Bay. Behold a panoramic view of the entire show while enjoying a lunch ten stories above Traverse City.  Ticket prices are $40 and include a luncheon during the show.

TART Cherry Bike Tour


The National Cherry Festival's Bike Tour has become a favorite annual event for many individuals and families.  

The National Cherry Festival, in cooperation with the Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation Trails, Inc. (TART TRAILS), is proud to present the TART Cherry Bike Tour, on Sunday, July 8, 2012. 

Formerly known as the Old Mission Bike Tour, this revamped event will stroll along the TART Trails in Leelanau County to the MSU Horticultural Research Station.  Enjoy rolling hills and orchard views along the 22 mile ride.

Registration is now open!  A portion of your registration fee will be donated to The TART Trails, Inc.  For more information about the TART Trails, or to obtain a map of the trails, please visit www.traversetrails.org.

Old Town Classic Vehicle Show

Cruise Night- Join other classic vehicle enthusiasts for a cruise night on Friday, July 6 starting at the Turtle Creek Casino. Staging begins at 5:00pm and the cruise leaves at 6:00pm.

Cherry Connection: Bringing Together Festival, Farm, and Fruit

The National Cherry Festival and Michigan State University Extension invite you to escape to a 100 acre research farm in the heart of "Cherry Country". Visit a productive orchard in beautiful Leelanau County, where fruit and festival come together at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station operated by Michigan State University Extension. Besides the guided orchard tours, there are exhibits and samples of the newest cherry products and technology inside the station. There are all sorts of "cherry" fun for the kids, including a petting zoo, hands-on experiments, kids poster coloring contest and many other activities.

Cherry Connection Shuttle: Shuttles will pick up on the west side of the Traverse City Visitor's Center on Garland Street. Please look for the Cherry Connection shuttle sign. The bus is scheduled to leave every 1/2 hour from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The bus makes return trips back to Traverse City.

From the open space in Traverse City, go west on Grandview Parkway (1.5 miles) which becomes M-22. Continue on M-22 for 4.4 miles to Crain Hill Road; turn left for .7 miles. Turn right on County Road 633 (Center Highway) for 2.8 miles. The Northwest Michigan Research Station will be on the left. Total driving time is 15 minutes.

The National Cherry Festival and Michigan State University Extension invite you to escape to a 100 acre research farm in the heart of "Cherry Country". Visit a productive orchard in beautiful Leelanau County, where fruit and festival come together at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station operated by Michigan State University Extension. Besides the guided orchard tours, there are exhibits and samples of the newest cherry products and technology inside the station. There are all sorts of "cherry" fun for the kids, including a petting zoo, hands-on experiments, kids poster coloring contest and many other activities.

Visit a productive orchard in beautiful Leelanau County, where fruit and festival come together at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station operated by Michigan State University Extension. Besides the guided orchard tours, there are exhibits and samples of the newest cherry products and technology inside the station. There are all sorts of "cherry" fun for the kids, including a petting zoo, hands-on experiments, kids poster coloring contest and many other activities.

Cherry Connection Shuttle: Shuttles will pick up on the west side of the Traverse City Visitor's Center on Garland Street. Please look for the Cherry Connection shuttle sign. The bus is scheduled to leave every 1/2 hour from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The bus makes return trips back to Traverse City.

From the open space in Traverse City, go west on Grandview Parkway (1.5 miles) which becomes M-22. Continue on M-22 for 4.4 miles to Crain Hill Road; turn left for .7 miles. Turn right on County Road 633 (Center Highway) for 2.8 miles. The Northwest Michigan Research Station will be on the left. Total driving time is 15 minutes.

Cherry Idol Auditions

In cooperation with WKHQ Radio.

 

Join us in the 5th Annual Cherry Idol Competition! The competition is broken into divisions of Adult (18 and up); Young Adult (15-17); Teen (12-14) and Youth (8-11).

All participants will be required to sing a song of their choice, without any background music (a cappella) for the preliminary auditions. If chosen to move onto the final round, competitors must be prepared to perform a different song of their choice. The final round will be sung to background music.

Kids ages 1 to 14 can register to participate in 12 parade categories in the Touchstone Energy Junior Royale Parade and march in front of thousands of parade spectators!

Categories include: Pets, Bikes (ages 4-7), Bikes (ages 8-10), Bikes (ages 11-14), Baby Buggies, Trikes and Wagons, Skateboards and Scooters, Clowns, Twins, Day Care, Cherry People, Cardboard Floats, and the 2012 Junior Royale Parade theme "America the Beautiful", celebrating the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes designation as "America's Most Beautiful Place" by Good Morning America.

Helmets and safety equipment are suggested for the Bike, Skateboard and Scooter categories.  No fee required.

See one of America's only Kids Parades, the Touchstone Energy Junior Royale Parade features the National Cherry Festival Prince and Princess court representing our 27 local Elementary schools. Come see clowns, marching bands, floats, and much more! 

This years theme is "America the Beautiful", celebrating the Sleeping Bear Sand Dune's designation as "America's Most Bueautiful Place".  The parade is approximately two hours.

Cherry Connection: Bringing Together Festival, Farm, and Fruit

The National Cherry Festival and Michigan State University Extension invite you to escape to a 100 acre research farm in the heart of "Cherry Country". Visit a productive orchard in beautiful Leelanau County, where fruit and festival come together at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station operated by Michigan State University Extension. Besides the guided orchard tours, there are exhibits and samples of the newest cherry products and technology inside the station. There are all sorts of "cherry" fun for the kids, including a petting zoo, hands-on experiments, kids poster coloring contest and many other activities.

Cherry Connection Shuttle: Shuttles will pick up on the west side of the Traverse City Visitor's Center on Garland Street. Please look for the Cherry Connection shuttle sign. The bus is scheduled to leave every 1/2 hour from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The bus makes return trips back to Traverse City.

From the open space in Traverse City, go west on Grandview Parkway (1.5 miles) which becomes M-22. Continue on M-22 for 4.4 miles to Crain Hill Road; turn left for .7 miles. Turn right on County Road 633 (Center Highway) for 2.8 miles. The Northwest Michigan Research Station will be on the left. Total driving time is 15 minutes.

Join us in the 5th Annual Cherry Idol Competition! The competition is broken into divisions of Adult (18 and up); Young Adult (15-17); Teen (12-14) and Youth (8-11).

All participants will be required to sing a song of their choice, without any background music (a cappella) for the preliminary auditions. If chosen to move onto the final round, competitors must be prepared to perform a different song of their choice. The final round will be sung to background music.

Fifth Third Bank Golden Mile

This classic event returns to the streets of downtown Traverse City! This event will feature a Men's and a Women's Elite Mile Road Race on a USATF certified loop-style course through downtown, concluding on the corner of Front and Union streets just prior to the beginning of the DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade.

The elite field of racers will consist of high level collegiate and professional runners selected by Race Directors Bryan Burns and Eric Houghton. To apply, the minimum performance standards of 4:10 for the men's mile and 4:55 in the women's mile (or equivalent 800/1500m time) will be required. In order to maintain a competitive race field, each race will be capped at a maximum of 12 athletes.

Join us in kicking off the 86th National Cherry Festival's final day with the DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade! Enjoy royalty, marching bands, Prince and Princess floats, clowns, specialty entries and much more! Wheelchair access on the corner of 6th and Union Street.

The Parade will be broadcast on AM 580 - WTCM Radio.

Beer Tent


Cool off with a cold one and enjoy views from "Traverse City's Coolest Bar on the Bay"!  Enjoy views of West Grand Traverse Bay, all while listening to nightly entertainment streaming from the Bay Side Music Stage! The Beer Tent Stage will also feature live music throughout the afternoon and happy hour.

You can choose from brands such as Miller Lite, Labatt Blue and Blue Light, Mikes Hard Lemonade, Jeremiah Weed, UV Vodka, Bacardi Rum, local and regional wines, and more! The Festival's Beer Tent is open from noon to 11:00 p.m. each Festival day.

Festival-goers must be 21 years or older to enter the Tent.  Please drink responsibly and always assign a designated driver.

Drawings for "Go for the Gold" Pin Program qualifiers take place at 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Festival Open Space Cherry Blast Stage. Qualifiers will be notified via telephone. All "Go for the Gold" Pin Purchasers are eligible and do not need to be present to win.

Ultimate Air Dogs-Finals

The annual National Cherry Festival Ultimate Air Dogs competition is a huge success, featuring nearly a hundred "dog athletes" and their proud owner-trainers competing for advancement in the regional games.

Festival Fireworks Finale Over West Grand Traverse Bay
